Tanaka Works—widely recognized for its highly realistic finishes and precise operating systems—faithfully reproduces the square-butt version of the Smith & Wesson Model 10 Military & Police 2-inch. The original Military & Police name dates back to 1899, when Smith & Wesson introduced a revolver that would go on to become one of the most widely issued service handguns of the 20th century.
 
While compact revolvers like the Model 36 offered five-round capacity, the 2-inch Model 10 answered demand for a concealable revolver that retained the reassuring six-round cylinder of the K-frame platform. Its balance of compact dimensions and full grip made it popular not only for uniformed duty but also as an off-duty or plainclothes carry revolver.
 
The square-butt grip frame—preferred by many shooters for its fuller, more secure hold—adds both ergonomic stability and a distinctive visual character.
