Decision Trigger – Is this revolver for you?

✔️ Shoot at will if:

  • You love  military history: This is a meticulous replica of the classic Smith & Wesson .45-caliber contract wheelgun, capturing early 20th-century service heritage flawlessly.

  • You want authentic material heft: The Heavy Weight (HW) construction infuses metal powder into the composite frame, delivering a dense, cold feel and real-steel balance.

  • You value vintage design details: Features smooth wood-grain grips, a distinct integrated lanyard ring at the base of the grip, and the retro half-moon front sight blade.

Hold your fire if:

  • You want modern tactical features: Built on a design over a century old, it has no accessory rails, minimal fixed iron sights, and zero compatibility with modern holsters or optics.

  • You demand individual shell reloading: It utilizes the Pegasus system, storing gas and BBs entirely within the internal cylinder mechanism rather than using removable mock cartridges.

  • You want crisp physical recoil: As a high-efficiency system, all gas pressure goes down the inner barrel to push the BB, resulting in a smooth pull but no mechanical kickback.

Takeaway: The Tanaka M1917 Hand Ejector 2nd Gen 4-inch HW is a premium tribute to a legendary military sidearm. It sacrifices tactical convenience and shell-ejecting play for deep historical accuracy, dense material realism, and the reliable skirmish capability of the internal Pegasus engine. The S&W M1917 was originally developed by Smith & Wesson to compensate for shortages of the M1911 Government, the standard-issue U.S. sidearm during World War I. Chambered in .45 ACP, it provided the military with a reliable revolver option using the same ammunition as the semi-automatic pistol.

This iconic revolver is famously associated with Indiana Jones. In a memorable scene set in Cairo, he swiftly dispatches a towering swordsman armed with a scimitar—cementing the M1917’s place in film history.

The original U.S. military M1917 utilized half-moon clips, each holding three rounds, to secure the rimless .45 ACP cartridges in the cylinder. Without these clips, the cartridges would not seat properly. In contrast, this version is chambered for the rimmed British-spec .455 Webley cartridge, eliminating the need for clips. It also features a distinctive pointed front sight rather than the standard U.S. military pattern, enhancing its classic, cinematic appearance.

Historically, the M1917 was also supplied to Japanese police forces by GHQ following World War II as a temporary service weapon prior to the adoption of the New Nambu pistol, adding further historical significance to the model.

This gas-powered replica incorporates the Pegasus system, with an integrated gas reservoir and chamber housed within the cylinder itself. Unlike earlier gas revolvers, this design delivers strong, consistent performance. The revolver holds 12 rounds, enabling rapid follow-up shots reminiscent of semi-automatic fire.

With an overall length of 235 mm, a weight of 710 g, and a 12-round capacity, this model offers both authentic styling and impressive functionality—perfect for recreating classic adventure moments.
