Real-Steel Background
The Smith & Wesson Model 500 is one of the most powerful production revolvers in the world, chambered in the formidable .500 S&W Magnum cartridge. Built on the massive X-frame, it was engineered to handle extreme pressures and is primarily intended for handgun hunting and defense against large game.
 
The short-barreled 2¾-inch Emergency Survival (ES) version was designed as a compact, powerful backcountry sidearm. It became instantly recognizable for its bright orange Hogue grips, intended for high visibility in outdoor and emergency situations. Despite its compact barrel length, the real steel M500 delivers tremendous recoil and muzzle blast due to the sheer power of the cartridge.
 
Airsoft Version
The manufacturer faithfully recreates the imposing presence of the real-steel in this Tanaka Airsoft S&W M500 ES 2¾" Stainless Steel Ver.2 – Pegasus Gas Revolver. While it does not include the original survival kit, it captures the defining features of the firearm—including the ultra-short barrel and distinctive orange grips.
 
Built on Tanaka’s updated S&W X-frame Ver.2 internal system, this model uses the proprietary Pegasus gas mechanism, which integrates the gas reservoir into the cylinder for consistent performance. Unlike the real .500 Magnum, this airsoft version offers smooth, manageable shooting without heavy recoil, making it practical for collection, display, or skirmish use.
 
The revolver features authentic-style engravings, a substantial weighted construction, and both single- and double-action operation for realistic handling.
