Gas blowback handguns use gas pressure to fire BBs, then retract the slide to chamber the next round. While this may sound simple, the realistic mechanism and recoil that mimic a real firearm are achieved by balancing gas "flow rate," "instantaneous pressure," and "flow speed." The most crucial part of delivering this gas, the power source, to the gun is the gas gasket section, the point of contact between the magazine and the gun.

Additionally, achieving a balance between a tight seal to prevent gas leakage and the sliding balance during slide movement is crucial for recoil, operation, and power during blowback.
